Your hair is thoroughly washed with a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup and open the cuticle, preparing it to absorb the treatment formula fully.
Treatment application
The formula is applied section by section, coating each strand from root to tip. Hair Botox is applied to wet hair. Keratin is applied to dry hair, sealed in with straightening irons to lock the protein deep into the hair shaft.
Processing time
The formula is left to penetrate deeply into the hair structure, typically for 20–30 minutes. You're comfortable, refreshed, and not going anywhere.

There is a lot of noise about hair smoothing products, and some of it is justified. Older formulations of keratin treatments used formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing chemicals, which have known health risks when heated in an enclosed space.
At MNR Hair, we use only formaldehyde-free formulations. No compromises on your health or your hair's integrity. We've chosen our products carefully because we work in a private studio and care about both your safety and ours.

Our formaldehyde-free formulas produce significantly less fume than traditional keratin treatments. Some clients do experience mild eye sensitivity during application; we keep the studio well-ventilated.

Will it make my hair poker straight?
Keratin will significantly reduce volume and frizz and make your hair much easier to straighten, but it won't chemically straighten it. Hair Botox preserves your natural movement and texture. Our specialist will show you examples at your consultation.
Will I still need to blowdry my hair?
Some clients can air dry after treatment, others still prefer a quick blowdry, in a fraction of the time. What we can promise is that whatever drying time you have now, it will be significantly less.
How long does the treatment take?
Typically 2–3 hours depending on your hair length, thickness, and the treatment you're having. We'll give you an accurate time estimate at your consultation.
What aftercare do I need to follow?
The most important thing is switching to a sulphate-free shampoo. Sulphates strip the treatment and dramatically shorten your results. No waiting time after your appointment; you can wash your hair, exercise, or swim immediately.
How long will the results last?
Keratin typically lasts 3–5 months. Hair Botox 2–4 months. How long you get depends on how often you wash your hair and whether you follow the aftercare guidance.
Which treatment is right for me?
Keratin is better for thick, coarse, or seriously frizzy hair where you want a stronger, longer-lasting result. Hair Botox is better for fine, damaged, or colour-treated hair where you want manageability and repair without flattening your texture.
Can I have colour on the same day?
No. Colour services need to be carried out at least 2 weeks before or after your smoothing treatment. We'll help you plan your timing when you enquire.
